Busy Week

Lots happened last week. Time for a breakdown:

1. Toonami died

Yes, I'm sad. Let me just throw that out there so you don't think I'm completely insensitive. On that note, I'm glad its gone. It was around too long if you ask me. There was absolutely no point in changing up the look of Toonami within its last year. What they should have done was left it how it was until its 10th anniversary then said goodbye. And they would have gone out with a bang. Not "Oh, by the way, it's our last broadcast. Bye." NO! That's really crappy. Freakin' Thomas the Tank Engine. That's what TOM had become. It's sad. Too man bad memories for me. That's why I think it should have gone out when everyone had good memories still in their head. Toonami, you will be sorely missed anyway. You were a big part of our generation's childhood and cartoons will never be the same. If it weren't for Toonami, stuff like Adult Swim would never have existed. Here's to you Toonami. You succeeded in creating a better cartoon show. And kids did love it. Bang.

2. New Halo "Game"

Yes, a new Halo... uh... something was announced on Halo 3's first anniversery. I still think its an alternate campaign on Earth with marines. Anyway, if you want a reeealy in-depth breakdown of the trailer- actually there's many sources. I suggest this one or this one. There's a lot to be picked through. Everything Bungie does, they do for a reson.

3. Old Halo Game

The less publicized story was the cancelled Halo game. Apparently, Ensamble was working on a Halo MMO, but it was scrapped in 2007, long before the company was disbanded by Microsoft. They must have known it was total crap. Seriously, I don't know what these guys were thinking. Ensamble makes RTS games not MMOS. A Halo MMO is just a bad idea to begin with because you would have to add so man un-Halo elements into the mix. Witness some of the concept art and judge for your self. Personally, I think the world is now better off.

4. Google Phone

If you've been living under a rock on Saturn, you probably haven't heard about the Google-powered phone. Well, it's coming. The new T-Mobile device runs of Google's new Android opperating system. I rather like it. In fact, I would go as far as saying it looks more promising than the iPhone. The device has both a touch screen and QWERTY keyboard (a plus in my book) as well as a track ball and some actual keys. The G1 has full support of Google services and is expected to launch this fall. Visit the official site for info.

Prepare To Drop...

I missed it last night. The countdown that was so rudely interrupted during E3 reappeared last night over at Bungie.net. It ended earlier today (at 7:07). Wow. This is indeed significant. This is new Halo stuff, folks. The first official Halo game since Halo 3. It's not Halo Wars, it's not the mysterious Peter Jackson game, this is something new entirely. It's one of three Bungie projects in the works, and one of several Halo projects.

Speculation is running rampet. There are now more questions than answers. All we know at this point is what the damn Superintendant is (a simple AI programed to operate public utilities). I'll be back tomorrow for some in-depth analysis. Until then, I'll just throw in my two cents: I think it's the rumored ODST game. Whether it's squad-based or not remains to be seen. I think it'll probably be an alternate campaign of Halo2/Halo3 focusing on the Marine's battle on earth. We'll have to just wait and see how things unfold before any more assumptions can be made.

Oh, and Halo 3 turned one today. That's probably why this announcement was even made.

Toonami GONE FOREVER

Thats right toonami has finally come to an end after elven years of being broadcasted. Despite the fact Toonami has recently sucked ever since tom got a makeover, I will personally miss Tom an this great show which was part of the majority of my childhood

I guess it's not much of an Ensemble any more...

In an odd turn of events, Microsoft has disbanded Ensemble Studios, the creators of Age of Empires and the upcoming Halo Wars. Halo Wars will be the studio's last game, after which the company will cease to exist. Microsoft has given employees other jobs at Microsoft.

One must wonder why, though? What will befall the Halo Wars series if it is successful? Guess we'll have to wait until it's released to find out.

Please help stop the Dragonball movie

I would go on a rant but I'm not much in the mood right now. I'm too upset at this. As you may or may not know, the live action Dragonball movie is scheduled for April of next year. It's so very wrong. If you're any kind of fan of the show, then just by looking at these few stills from the upcoming trailer you can tell just how wrong it is.

Please, if you don't want the good name of Dragonball to be defiled by this blasphemy, then sign this petition to help stop it!

You have been decieved!

I went on a quest the other day. A quest to discover the ultimate web browser. It is not Internet Explorer or Firefox. You have been lied to. Despite rave reviews and whatnot for the newest version of Firefox, I have discovered something far superior. After using Firefox for years, I finally got fed up. Its frequent crashing was getting on my last nerver. In despiration I turned to Safari. Safari is nice, but I'm not crazy about the layout and it's a little lacking in the feature department. So, I payed a visit to download.com and looked up their highest rated browsers. Of course Firefox 3 was up there along with Safari, but then I found something rated even higher. It's been around longer than both of those two browsers combined (probably, I dont really know that). I'm talking about the latest version of Opera- 9.5. Opera must be doing something right to go through 9.5 versions. And so I though why not try it. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Guess what? It's fantastic. I don't know why more people don't use Opera. It has all the features of your favorite browser, but does them better. It's faster and more feature rich, too. Let me give you an example of one of the extras. When you first open Opera it will take you to speed dial. Speed dial is a blank page with nine empty thumbnails. These thumbnails can be edited to take you to your nine favorite websites. This makes things convenient because speed dial opens with a new tab. Say I want to go to Blogger. I just open a new tab and click the speed dial thumb nail. Of course, I could also access Blogger from my favorites menu or the favorites toolbar. Opera also comes with panels. Panels let you browse your bookmarks and organize them, write notes and send them to people, manage your e-mail, view your active downloads, search, access page info, manage windows, view your history, and access widgets that run within your browser or anywhere on your desktop as long as Opera is open. Opera also has extensive customization options. Not only can you completely customize every toolbar and button, but you can customize search engines, and skins as well. That's just a short list of features that Opera has. The best part? Its faster and more stable. I guarentee it does everything your current browser does better and then some. Try it. You'll never go back.
